About Me

This is me, my JRT puppy, (Mabel) and my kitten, (Kitty), we live in Blakedown, Kidderminster area but cover all the surrounding areas.
I graduated from Wolverhampton University with an HND In Animal Management & Care, and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Honours Degree in Animal Science & Management from the University of Worcester.
My animal care and welfare experience is varied, having worked in animal care environments from veterinary practices, animal husbandry centres, reptile houses and even caring for wolves, lions, tigers, and wild dogs as a carnivore keeper at our local safari park.
I have also gained experienced out and about where I previously volunteered at the fabulous RSPB Nature Reserve in Sandwell Valley. It was here that I gave educational talks on a variety of wildlife species and habitats. I have also helped with parkland and woodland management volunteering with the Wyre Forest Rangers in wildlife conservation and land management.
I am currently the owner of 2 kids, 1 dog, 1 cat, fish, a snake and a Hubby. Up until 2023 I worked full-time over a period of some 30 years in the corporate world working my way into senior roles, I’ve juggled the kids career, pets and the general stresses of life but I have always been passionate about providing the best care for companion animals, they are after all part of our family – I am a true advocate for the highest animal welfare standards.
So yeah, I understand how life can get and how juggling so many responsibilities can be stressful, demanding, challenging and emotionally draining. I felt that too and this is what I had in my mind when I embarked on creating Pets assist – If I can help families like yours, if only to take a little pressure off helping you with with your pets, then, yeah sign me up.
After working in corporate environments for the last couple of decades (that makes me feel old) I have taken the plunge into fulfilling a lifelong ambition of working with animals on my terms. I am now a successful and respected self-employed animal care provider & dog trainer and I couldn’t be happier.
Dog Training
I am a certified Dog Trainer, DTC-CDT, graduating from the Dog Training College in 2024, and a practitioner and advocate of force-free rewards-based training.
My training is strictly hands-off, kind and ethical, using techniques that teach your dog how to effectively communicate with one and other without inducing pain, frustration, confusion or harm. My methods are fun and safe and will set you and your dog up to succeed for the long haul, I work with the whole family, so the kids can get involved and I specifically enjoy teaching kids how to create trust and have fun with the family pooch.
Dog walking, home visits and more
My time spent volunteering in the local area has afforded me access to lots of hidden gems for dog walking, which I know your canine companions will love.
I am not just a dog walker. Yes, I am not the cheapest dog walker in town but I wanted to offer a dog walking services for pooches and their humans that are concerned about group/pack walks with unfamiliar dogs, which I am able to do armed with patience, unbiased specific skills and knowledge in mind, providing a specialist 1-2-1 personalised walk for your dog(s), their struggles and your peace of mind.
In addition to training and walks I can help in the home. Or, if you are planning a holiday and need help in the home with your pet, check out my home visit packages on my services tab and tailor a service to meet your needs and budget.
…Or, if you require a more specialised service such as wedding chaperoning I can help there too. YES, your pet can share your special day with their own private chaperone for the day to boot, again check out my packages on my services tab for more information!
My future plans
I LOVE to stay up to date with all things new in the scientific community. As an experienced dog trainer and Science degree graduate I cherish the importance of continuous personal development staying up to date with the latest understanding of our canines. Unfortunately, training dogs is still currently unregulated in the UK but I believe in the importance of education and accreditation using science backed theories and understanding especially when it comes to specific canine behavioural struggles..
Since graduating with my HND, BSc and Dog trainer certification I enrolled with the British College of Canine Studies – I have almost completed a Pet BC level 4 in Advanced Canine Behaviour Qualification and on track to graduate with distinction. My insights throughout this course has been invaluable adding to my existing knowledge and has afforded me with specialist understanding-which I now practice in order to help my clients and their dogs with canine behaviour struggles.
In addition to the Pet BC I have also just enrolled on a Level 6 Ofqual regulated Clinical Canine Behaviour Qualification with the Canine Behaviour College starting in April 2026.
If my story resonates with you and you are looking for help with your animal companion, what are you waiting for? get in touch to discuss how I can help you and your pets live a happier, healthier life.
Emma Prince, BSc, DTC-CDT.

Emma at pets Assist looked after my dog while I was away and she we absolutely brilliant. Spent time with her, walked her, I had video updates and pictures and was just so at ease knowing she was being well looked after. I would highly recommend Emma and will definitely be using her in the future
Fabulous lady who cares for your pets like they are her own. Emma keeps you fully updated while your away. She is friendly and very reliable. Would not trust anybody else while I’m away now.
Emma looked after my elderly chihuahua while I was away in January. She kept me updated with pics and videos and made sure her medication and dietary requirements were met. Tia is a fussy madam at times and it was great to know that she was in the safest of hands.
